When Holset Engineering was established in Huddersfield in 1952 – it quickly gained a reputation for engineering excellence. The company has grown to become Cummins Turbo Technologies, a global technology leader with 3,500 employees worldwide.

Very proud of their Huddersfield roots, Cummins Turbo Technologies asked Media Mill to help create graphics for an exhibition to celebrate their rich and proud history.

Involving much more than graphics, the heritage display included Formula One posters from the 1980s, as well as a signed picture of Ayrton Senna driving a Formula 1 car with a Holset-turbocharger. There was also a Cummins C series 8.3-litre diesel engine from a Dennis firetruck, sectioned to show Holset components.

We brought the whole exhibition together by designing bespoke graphics and creating a timeline charting the evolution of turbocharger design. This took people on a real journey. It started in the 1950s with skilled draughtspeople using drawing boards. And it finished in the present day with computer aided designs enabling complex and innovative engineering for emerging, green technologies.
